To distinguish the different body shapes in the nature, designers and fashion specialists have defined 6 major silhouettes. How did they decide that? No idea! But, they helped us to understand how to dress up based on our own characteristics.
However, It's not rocket science, n'est ce pas ? Knowing which category you are in, you need to look at yourself in a mirror, and please, try a little tenderness! Be gentle on yourself and just analyze what are you seeing; are your shoulders larger than your hips? Maybe your shoulders and hips are aligned? etc...
You might fall into a category or you can be closed to one of them, the idea here is to give you some tips on how to do your shopping for the next sales!
Let's start with the Triangle (or A) body type
Triangle shape means that your shoulders and torso are narrower than your hips. Your goal is to emphasize the top of your body and keep it simple in the bottom to harmonize your silhouette.
TOP
Use shirts, tops with ruffles or pleated, and everything that can give you more volume.
Focus on structured jackets or blazers to balance out the size of your hips.
Ballon sleeves are your allies.
Color, patterned or printed tops are perfect for you.
Strapless top or dresses will give you more shape.
BOTTOM
Black is your new best friend.
Prefer the pants with straight cut.
The same for dresses or skirt, target only straight and A-line cut.
The fabric should always be fluid, but not to tight.
Belts on the hips are interdites! They will attract the attention on your hips.
The Best
Empire dress because it will highlight your shoulders, while thinning your hips because of its straight cut.
Coming soon the "Inverted Triangle" (pardon ?!) or V!
